To improve the mechanization of the kiwi’s culture.

For the first time, a technical day completely dedicated to the production of the kiwi was organized in aid of 500 producers of the Adour (France), in which SERRAT Mulchers participated by presenting its model of mulcher EVOLUTION GREEN. .

The FD CUMA (departmental federation of the cooperatives of use of farm implements) of the Landes (France), and more particularly the Cauneille's CUMA, organized on Friday, July 23rd in Sorde-l'Abbaye, on the exploitation of François Idiart and Alain Bargnol (EARL BIBAYE), a technical day around the mechanization of the culture of the kiwi. The objective was to make discover to the producers the technical novelties which exist, and it is in this objective that SERRAT Mulchers presented his new mulcher EVOLUTION GREEN, capable of cutting and of pouring the grass at the feet of the tree to leave it a coat of protective material.

The objectives of this mulch are diverse :
  1. To regulate the temperature of the ground by limiting the thermal shocks (in the daytime), and by facilitating the preservation of the heat in the ground in spring and in autumn, and on the contrary by maintaining a certain freshness and by limiting temperature differences during the warm summer season,
  2. To master the development of the adventitious by intercepting the solar brilliance necessary for the seeding,
  3. To slow down the evaporation of the water and to maintain the humidity in the ground, by a barrier limiting the dehydration led by the wind, the sun which accelerate the evaporation. 25% economy in water.
  4. To keep the loose ground and to improve its pedological structure (what decreases the need of hoeing and harrowing)
  5. To enrich the ground in organic matter and in nutriments thanks to the degradation of the material of mulch (if it is biodegradable and polluted),
  6. To push away certain insects and to shelter a useful fauna,
  7. To allow the mulching machines to go away from trees, which limits wounds to the snare of the tree.
  8. To save between 25 and 30 % in pesticides, because we cut the chlorophyllous function of the grass by recovering the base of the tree.
Today, orchards increase in size and the idea was to facilitate them the access to the mechanization to improve their working conditions.
